Steel fenestration, defined by design intent.
Three distinct collections. Each one comes from a specific architectural idea and stays consistent with it, from proportion and profile through assembly and finish. These systems are built to integrate cleanly into a building and perform reliably for a long time.
Portal Collection
Our Study in Reduction
Portal is quiet. The frames are refined and unobtrusive. Glass, light and view do the work. The geometry is calm, the proportions deliberate, and every decision favors restraint.
It works well in spaces where architecture calls for openness and continuity. Large openings feel composed, not oversized. Interior-to-exterior transitions are clean. Portal is usually chosen when the fenestration is meant to disappear into the architecture, not draw attention from it.

Best suited for:
-
Open-plan interiors
-
Landscaped views and courtyards
-
Architecture that prioritizes light and proportion

Axis Collection
Linear and Expressive
Axis is built around horizontal and vertical alignment. Its framing introduces rhythm and structure, giving each opening a defined presence in the wall.
It pairs well with architecture that treats structure as part of the aesthetic. The lines reinforce geometry and scale. It reads with more presence than Portal, but stays disciplined throughout.

Matrix Collection
A Study in Pattern and Proportion
Matrix works with grid, proportion and the precision of joinery. Its repeating divisions introduce pattern and rhythm. The frame becomes an architectural element in its own right, not just a boundary around glass.
Each intersection is deliberate. The system reads as structured and refined at the same time. Matrix is usually selected when fenestration is meant to hold a visible role in the architecture by adding depth and character without losing order.

-
Architecture with a strong compositional language
-
Projects that benefit from visual rhythm and repetition
-
Spaces where detail and structure are closely observed

Technical Overview
The following specifications apply across all Fathom Fenestrations systems. Final performance values are confirmed during specification and submittal.
Thermal Performance
All Fathom systems are rated by the NFRC, an independent organization that tests and certifies the thermal performance of doors and windows. Those ratings cover heat transfer, solar heat gain and glass clarity. They are the standard reference point for architects, engineers and building departments.
Steel is a thermally conductive material. That is part of what gives it its weight, precision and longevity. It also means that projects in California, where Title 24 energy code sets specific performance requirements, need early coordination between your architect and Title 24 engineer to account for steel in the building envelope. This is common on high-design projects and straightforward to manage when it is planned for from the start.
For projects with stricter thermal requirements, thermally broken frames are available. We walk through the right approach for your project during specification.
Download the architectural tear sheet for detailed performance data.
Air, Water and Structural Performance
All Fathom systems are tested for air infiltration and water penetration resistance as part of our NFRC third-party certification process. These tests confirm that our products perform to established fenestration standards under real conditions.
For larger openings, structural and wind load resistance becomes a factor. If your project includes an opening above a certain square footage, additional structural analysis will be required and will affect cost and lead time. We flag this early in the specification process so it doesn't catch anyone off guard.
Specific certified ratings are available upon request and will be included in your submittal package.
Glazing Options
We offer three standard glazing tiers. They cover the needs of 90% of projects. For specialty conditions, we work through options with your team during specification. All glazing units are available with laminated, acoustic or safety glass where code or project conditions require it. Final glass selection is coordinated during specification.
-
Tier 1: High-Performance Triple Glazing.
-
Three panes with two insulating gas chambers, advanced low-E coatings and a thermally resistant spacer system. For projects with demanding energy targets, high-altitude installations or extreme climate conditions.
-
-
Tier 2: Dual Insulated Glass with Argon and Upgraded Low-E.
-
Two panes with an argon gas fill and upgraded low-E coating on an optimized surface. Balances thermal performance and visual clarity. The right choice for most California ground-up projects where the building envelope is being engineered around the fenestration.
-
-
Tier 3: Dual Insulated Glass with Standard Low-E.
-
Clean, architectural glass with a standard low-E coating. Performs well in mild climates and interior applications where Title 24 compliance is managed through other envelope elements.
-
Frame Profiles and Sightlines
Fathom systems are available in two frame configurations: solid steel and thermally broken steel.
Solid steel offers the cleanest sightlines and the most direct material presence. It is the right choice for the majority of projects. Thermally broken steel incorporates a thermal break within the frame profile, improving the U-factor rating at a higher cost and slightly wider profile depth. Side-by-side profile drawings, section details and glass capacity comparisons are available in the architectural tear sheet for each collection.
Hardware and Operation
Fathom systems are available in hinged, pivot, sliding and fixed configurations, depending on the collection. We work with Sun Valley Bronze as our preferred hardware partner. Their catalog is available for review, and we coordinate ordering directly. If you want to supply your own hardware, there is a separate specification path for that, and we walk through it during the submittal phase.
Concealed and minimal hardware options are available where appropriate. All configurations are reviewed for egress and accessibility compliance per project requirements.
Finishes
-
Tier 1: Patina and Specialty Finishes.
-
Hand-developed surface treatments with depth and material character. Available in a limited range of tones. For projects where finish is part of the architectural intention.
-
-
Tier 2: Fluoropolymer Coating
-
Our primary finish system. A liquid, baked-on fluoropolymer coating applied over a zinc and aluminum metalizing base. Rated to C5 marine-grade performance standards. This is what we recommend for most exterior applications.
-
-
Tier 3: Architectural Powder Coat.
-
A clean, consistent powder coat system. Reliable and durable for interior and sheltered exterior conditions.
-
Finish specifications, care guidelines and warranty information are included in the submittal package.
-
Order a Finish Sample Kit.
-
See the tiers in person before you specify. The cost of your sample kit is applied in full toward your order.
-
Installation and Coordination
Systems are designed for clean integration with standard wall assemblies. Shop drawings and coordination details are provided before fabrication begins. Early coordination with your structural, waterproofing and finish trades is recommended. Installation requirements vary by configuration and site conditions, and our team stays available through that phase.
